FAQ’s

Want to learn more about FemiLift? At the Avery Center, we have the answers to the most common questions about this life-changing procedure.

How does FemiLift work?

The innovative new FemiLift is a safe, effective, virtually painless procedure that uses minimally invasive carbon dioxide (CO2) technology to promote collagen production and improve a wide array of feminine concerns ranging from vaginal looseness, dryness, stress urinary incontinence and more. Our patients are overwhelmingly satisfied with the improvement in self-esteem and overall quality of life they experience soon after their FemiLift treatment.

What does FemiLift treatment involve?

To perform the FemiLift treatment, the doctor inserts a one-inch wand about four to six inches into the vagina. FemiLift does not require anesthesia, and most treatments take less than 10 minutes. For optimal results, three treatment sessions spaced one month apart are recommended. Additional treatments for long-term maintenance can be performed at any time, if desired.

Who is a good candidate for FemiLift?

The FemiLift treatment is ideal for women in their 30s, 40s, 50s and post-menopause. Issues likes unsatisfying sex and urinary incontinence often start after a woman has given birth. Childbirth affects not only the vagina, but also puts pressure on the floor of the pelvic area, which can lead to increased urinary frequency and incontinence. Since FemiLift rebuilds collagen throughout the vagina and underneath the bladder, it can be used to address these bothersome symptoms.

Does the FemiLift treatment hurt?

You will able to feel slight heat in the area being treated, but Drs. Ofer and Goldberg will maintain the heat at a very tolerable level. They will either increase or decrease energy based on the patient’s feedback to make this a very fast and painless treatment.

What is the downtime associated with FemiLift?

FemiLift is a quick, minimally invasive treatment performed at the Avery Center. You can resume your normal daily activities immediately after FemiLift. Drs. Ofer and Goldberg caution that patients should wait a minimum of four days to have intercourse after the treatment. Mild to moderate exercise is permitted afterwards, but strenuous exercise should be avoided for up to a week.

Does FemiLift interfere with contraceptives like IUDs?

No. FemiLift has no effect on any birth control method.

Are there any side effects from FemiLift?

Some patients report a watery discharge or spotting for a day or two after FemiLift, but risks associated with the treatment are minimal. The positive side effects include an increase in vaginal sensation and lubrication after each treatment, for increased sexual pleasure and potentially stronger orgasms.

How long after childbirth should I wait to try FemiLift?

Drs. Ofer and Goldberg advise waiting at least three months after vaginal childbirth. This allows time for vaginal tone to recover, and for any vaginal lacerations to fully heal.

Is FemiLift safe for women who have had cancer treatment?

FemiLift is a very safe and effective alternative for patients who are not candidates for estrogen therapy. Many women who have had breast cancer suffer without estrogen, and are forced to use anti-estrogen drugs that thin out the vaginal walls and create daily dryness and pain with intercourse. FemiLift can be life-altering for these patients.

Can FemiLift help post-menopausal vaginal dryness?

Age, as well as massive weight loss, are known to cause the vaginal walls to collapse. FemiLift is ideal for post-menopausal vaginal dryness since it promotes collagen production within the vagina. The treatment restores a more youthful internal vaginal structure and increases lubrication for increased comfort and pleasure during intercourse.
